RESPONSE TO METHYLPREDNISOLONE BOLUS IN CHILDREN TREATED FOR NEPHROTIC SYNDROME AT THE PEDIATRIC NEPHROLOGY UNIT IN ABIDJAN

Introduction: The objective of this study was to describe the modalities responses observed following realization a bolus methylprednisolone in children treated for nephrotic syndrome pediatric nephrology unit Abidjan order assess need its our practice. Methods: we carried out descriptive and analytical cross-sectional patients followed up having benefited from administration 3 boluses at dosage 1g/1.73m2 between 2013 2021. Results: collected 33 aged 2 12 years 72.7% cases with male predominance (sex ratio=2.66). indication persistence proteinuria (100%) after four six weeks corticosteroid therapy 60mg/m2. A biological assessment search secondary cause had been (48.8%) presented abnormalities 26.6% cases. done hospitalization 54.5% All gastric protection before each bolus. During bolus, incidents were (27.2%): arterial hypertension (22.2%), fever (55.5%), hyperglycaemia (11.2%). post-bolus evaluation revealed 66.8% corticosteroid-resistant 27.2% corticosteroid-sensitive. Conclusion: made it possible catch third corticosteroid-sensitive patients, hence when conditions allow it.
